About Ingleton
Bentham 3.5 miles; Kirkby Lonsdale 7 miles; Settle 10.9 miles.
Nestling under Ingleborough, one of the famous Three Peaks, on the western edge of the Yorkshire Dales National Park, the attractive village of Ingleton offers a good range of shops, pubs, and places to eat. Popular options include La Tavernetta, Peaks & Troughs, and Masons Freehouse, dotted alongside the River Doe.
There’s also a year-round climbing wall, and a seasonal, heated outdoor swimming pool in a beautiful riverside setting, whilst the attractive village centre has narrow winding streets centred on a tiny marketplace.
The village’s main claim to fame is the superb Waterfalls’ Walk, while the well-known White Scar Caves are just over a mile away, along with the Beezley Falls Nature Reserve, and Thornton Force Waterfall.
An excellent location from which to explore the Yorkshire Dales, the Lake District, and the Forest of Bowland AONB, sure to offer a nature-filled visit.
Activities
Ingleborough

The village lies at the foot of Ingleborough, the second highest mountain in the Yorkshire Dales. Ingleborough is part of the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge, a walk that involves scaling Pen-y- Ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough in less than 12 hours. At 24 miles and with 5200ft of ascent it’s not for the faint hearted but well worth the effort.
White Scar Caves

White Scar Caves, a system of limestone tunnels and caverns sits beneath Ingleborough and are only a 5 minute drive from the village. The cave system is one of the longest cave systems in Britain, with underground streams and waterfalls.
The Waterfalls Trail

The Waterfalls Trail passes through woodland, gorges and a series of waterfalls. Thornton Force, at the top of the river Twiss, is one of England’s most spectacular waterfalls. For the sure footed, it’s fairly easy to scramble behind, a really magical experience.
Walks

In Ingleton, a network of spectacular walks awaits. The Ingleton Waterfalls Trail leads hikers past tumbling cascades and mossy woodland. Ascend Ingleborough to tackle one of the Three Peaks and soak up panoramic Dales views. Rambles along the River Doe reveal hidden paths, ancient caves, and truly breathtaking limestone scenery.
Cycling

The Yorkshire Dales is a mecca for road riders and mountain bikers alike. Quiet country lanes, challenging climbs, panoramic views and rugged bridleways lead across wild moorland and limestone landscapes. Attempt the challenging Turbary Road on an MTB, or Buttertubs Pass on a road bike; if successful, you’ll have earned that post ride pint for sure!
Adventure

Ingleton is surrounded by amazing opportunities for real adventures. From walking and cycling to rock climbing, canyoning and caving, there are so many things to do. Several companies can facilitate guided days out, including Ingleton’s Saaig Outdoors and caving specialists Yorkshire Dales Guides based in nearby Clapham.
